Yes, Dani....your song fits the theme perfectly, girl!
I went out this afternoon and went to the movies for the first time by myself  :-[   I've always gone with a date or a friend or someone...it's a little odd sitting by yourself...oh well, I'm going to have to get used to it...Movie season is upon us...I see more movies in the Fall and Winter than anytime of the year. I saw Julie and Julia...it was pretty good.

Well, now to go and listen to Dani's gem.....

The best thing IS to go to the movies by yourself!  Its not like you would be having a conversation during the movie or have folks stare at you because you're by yourself during the movie.  Everyone pays attention to the movie!  You'll feel better about it the more you do it!

Yeah, Cathy, but....I like to look over at the person I came with when there's a funny part....and I like to snuggle at the movies......and I like to talk on the ride home about how good the movie was or what I liked about it....we are relational creatures at our core.   :(
Have a good night everyone....love you all.   :-*

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALLY!!!!  Hope you have the most wonderful day ever...and a fabulous year in tow!

I'm sorry Phil.  I want to participate in your challenge.  But if I'm being honest, I'm not really feeling like much of a winner lately, and besides can't find anything worth putting up here.  You've got a beautiful challenge going.

TOM, I enjoyed Nightswimming.  You have the perfect voice for it.  It was a very sensitive, nuanced performance.

Aw, Sandy,  you've been sounding just great.  I hope you cheer up and get that smile back.

:-)  heh, I agree with Cathy to a certain degree too, I understand though - how nice it is to share moments... I went to a musical in Edinburgh on my own in August and I felt odd about doing this, but do you know what?  I had people around me talk to 'me'!  Even in the queue outside!  And after... And that made me feel good.  Often when in a relationship people outside of that get shut out.   I think there is nothing nicer than making new (if only brief) friends and sharing these times.  I guess that's what the Fringe is about though, we all go as strangers and come out as happy - almost know ya people.

I love the cinema - and if it were more accessible (and I had easier home arrangements) would be there every week regardless.  Don't look at it as an opportunity to be lonely, look at it as an opportunity to gain a new friend :D

Awww Sandy... I think I understand you this time as I'm also kinda 'stuck' - but it is a great theme Phil...

Morning everyone...

Good Monday morning everyone....Cathy and Janet....I know you both are right about the alone thing....You can't be happy in a relationship until you can be truly happy being alone with yourself...so I will try my best to get past the odd feelings of going to the Cinema myself...   ;D
Sandy....everything you sing is more than worthy of our listening....you too, CJ...you two are such a wonderful part of the Family here at EAW.  :-*
Hope everyone has a good Monday!

Happy Birthday, Ally!

Well, aren't we the quiet bunch today?  ;D

Not much going on here I see. It is Monday, after all. Monday is usually a day to regroup and redirect ourselves, eh? Well, perhaps we'll see a little action tonight! I know I'll be here checking out any new posts and hopefully we'll get some action going on then.  ::)

And I see that Singsnap is temporarily down for the count....

See you all soon!

Happy Birthday, Ally!

I have to say that once I was having fun on my own, comfortable in my own skin thats when all of a sudden I got knocked over by a relationship!  I wasn't looking and wham!  I actually had to make the decision to get involved because I was enjoying doing things on my own.  But I always talk to strangers and they've always talked to me, telling me stuff they probably never tell anyone they know, thats something I do to people.  I actually had a woman sit next to me here on the subway and started talking to me about how she was considering an abortion!  After 3 stops and a lengthy conversation she got up and went on with her life!  And I was thinking that once I moved to NY that wouldn't happen to me anymore LOL!

Wow....another quiet evening....Ohhhhh, I know where everyone is...at Ally's Birthday Party! I heard she was going to have Chippendale Dancers there  :o  and a big chocolate cake with buttercream icing....mmmmmmm  :P

Thanks for the chat, Cathy, about being comfortable in your own skin....I've heard it takes a while to develop that but once you get there... you are in a very happy place.

We still have time folks to add a few songs.....less than 24 hours before I pass the baton on to our next host!

Just dropping in to say Hi.  I've listened to nearly all the songs and may catch up before the end.  We stretched autumn to it's limits I think lol but they are all great sings.

Phil, I'm learning to do more entertainment stuff on my own too.  I still like company at the movies though, but street fairs and festivals I've conquered and yes, vendors and people do talk to you.  Last time I was in NY back in the 80's, I was not alone but was sitting in Central Park on a Sunday morning with a friend who had moved there to take journalism at Columbia.

We were sitting on a bench eating pizza I think when a lady walked past and smiled at us.  For no reason my friend invited her to join us.
We ended up by going to see her studio apartment nearby.  We all confessed later that we wondered if we would end up headlines for taking such a chance.  It turned out a lovely visit and an insight into what a couple k would buy near the park at that time.  One room with a stove.  But I digress lol.  I guess I'm just agreeing with Cathy and Janet that people will be friendly.  Not always cautious but friendly.  (I would never do this alone).

It's been a wonderful challenge Phil & I've really enjoyed hearing all the Fall songs.
Tonight I am relaxing by candlelight ...hey hope we don't set fire to the van ...& using up my last few dregs of internet before the new lot kicks in at midnight. Going back to nursing has been a challenge to say the least & my head has been spinning like a top over the past week & a bit.
Thank Gawd for music! & all of you ...you have kept me sane!!! sort of ...thanks muchly!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALLY!!!!!!!!!

Thank God for music is right, Jenny. Rhonda is going through Nursing School now. She's an LPN now but going to school to become an RN. Every now and then she gets on Singsnap and records a few songs just to keep her sanity amidst all the homework, tests and working at the hospital. She's working in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital this week. It's challenging for her but she's doing so well. I'm very proud of her to take on this huge task at 44 years old. But her music is helping her through it all.

This has been a great challenge this week because of you folks who participated. I'm so happy to have had so much participation from you all. And it's been nice chatting with everyone about this and that.
Ang, thanks for sharing your experience about going out of your way to talk with a stranger. I've heard it said that there are no strangers here...only friends we haven't met yet. If only we all could live by those words. This world would be all the better for it.

Well, enough of trying to solve the world's problems....we still have a day's worth of Challenge left....Have a great Tuesday everyone!  ;D

We have begun the three hour countdown....a new Challenge begins in just a few hours. Thanks to everyone who took part in this week's Autumn Challenge. We were all some lean, mean, Theme-Stretching machines!  You all made me so proud- I'm getting weepy  :'(

Thanks to the constant support and encouragement of our beloved Janet. ... And remember: The opinions expressed on this thread are not necessarily those of the owners and management of this site.  ;D

I had a lot of fun this week hosting....thanks again to everyone....until next time.....

Hey Phil, I just wanted to say you've done another tremendous job of this challenge and look - you even mastered the playlist!  :P

Sorry, I've had both a confusing, at times difficult and hectic week meaning basically I came here to rest up... and be with friends.  I think I owe you a song for your next challenge. ;)

Hold me too it...

Thanks everybody for all the lovely songs you continue to give us every week.

And remember - what the spider says is WORD!  :D
