Everyone's A Winner "Call Me!" Challenge/Showcase Thingy CXXVI
« on: September 08, 2009, 11:10:12 pm »
My wonderful co-host might be (LOL):  BRUCE!!! ;D

This challenge is open to all. It runs from Tuesday September 8 until September 15, 2009 at 6PM EDT.

PLEASE READ THE GUIDELINES AND THEME DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY BEFORE POSTING.

PURPOSE - The purpose of the EAW Music Challenge is to encourage people to create and/or promote new music each week and to give them a forum to have their songs heard. There is no judging involved.

HOW IT WORKS - Every Tuesday at 6PM a topic featuring a new theme will be posted on this board. Those wishing to participate are invited to post links to their songs that match the theme. You may post a song with a link from any online music/singing site you belong to. Over the years a nice little community has sprung up around these challenges. We invite you to participate but be aware that here everyone is very supportive of each other. Amateurs and professionals are both welcome. You do not have to be a great singer to participate. No flaming is allowed on this board. This is not a contest. There is no judging. It is merely an opportunity to hear and be heard by others. You can post or merely listen and interact with the others who post here. Please follow the detailed guidelines which are posted below and at the top of each new challenge thread. Have fun!

CHALLENGE GUIDELINES -

1. Post links to ONE OR TWO songs that fit the theme. You may post a THIRD one on or after Thursday.  You may post a FOURTH song link on or after Saturday.  Your song can be a new song or one that was previously recorded.

2. For EACH song link you post, listen to at least SIX other people’s songs and leave feedback. That means, if you post 2 song links you should listen to 12 others over the course of the 7 days of the challenge, a little less than 2 a day. If you post 3 song links, listen to 18 others and so on. You may, of course, listen to more if you choose. Listening is the most important part of this challenge. Supporting and experiencing others is what it’s about.

3. We prefer to listen to the whole song. Try not to listen to the same people every day. Give new people a chance as well.

4. You don't need to post a song to listen but you need to listen if you post a song. It's best to post earlier in the challenge. But you can post up until the end.

5. Please avoid making multiple posts in a row (spamming) by going back and modifying your posts if you left something out.

6. Remember to post the name of your song. For easy instructions on how to HOT LINK and post your song title, click EAW FAQ.

7. Please do not post glitter or large graphics as feedback or in the thread. Please keep to the standard font, size and color that is already provided - this helps prevent your songs and comments from getting lost in a sea of shifting fonts and colors. For your song title only, use 14pt font size and bold. This will help your song stand out. For more information on how to do this, check the EAW FAQ.

The theme for this challenge is Call Me

Post a song with any of the following keywords in the title or lyrics, or anything to do with using verbal communication:  phone, talk, speak, tell, whisper, shout, call, ring, answer, number, listen, laugh, breath (lol), hold,  Edit* more words to play with, hello, goodbye, see you soon, later, bye, ciao, love you (for the brave!) ...

There are bound to be tons of songs around using those words...

Psst!  Remember to call a friend and ask them to have fun with us!   ;)

Hi Janet & Bruce!  What a great theme!!   I think maybe "singing" would count as verbal communication....

A Song For You ~ Michael Buble

Love this song written by Leon Russell!!!

Well, I've been going through EAW withdrawal all week not having a song for last week's challenge.  So, I'm jumping in right up front. ;D

This first song fits really well because old Chuck is shouting throughout:

Nadine

This one is a bit of a stretch, but it does have the word "Yell" in the next to last verse and it's one I just finished and would like folks to hear.  It's an old Bobby Darin song.

My Darling (Rockin’) Clementine

What a great theme! Love this Janet and Cousin Brucie!

My phone # is 1-800-nunyabizness    ;D

If you really ever need my number...you might be able to get it out of Rhonda.... :-*

Here's one I did a few nights ago after talking to Rhonda on the phone and feeling all giddy. So, yes, Janet I'm smiling in the video....before it freezes, that is.    >:(                 It has the word 'Tell' in the lyrics.

Good evening. Thanks Janet for the previous challenge, it was great fun as always, and some fantastic songs again.

This is by the ELO, one of my all time favorite groups, the only thing is although it's new it's licenced , so perhaps a lot won't be able to hear it. It fits the theme anyway

Telephone Line

For those who can't see Telephone Line. here is another which is free for everyone to see, it's by Rod Stewart, and also contains a telephone.

These Foolish Things

Terry,

When I click on the title, it takes me to the page, but there's a Sad kitten there.  Evidently, it still is not licensed.  Can't play it.

Wow...don't miss Kats 'A Song For You' It steamed up my glasses it's so scorching hot!  :o

I'm trying to get Janets playlist list longer by posting two songs.  ;D

Here's a more serious one I recorded tonight that has the word 'hold' in the lyrics.

Here's one...that doesn't really have anything to do with the theme, but has the word "hold" in the lyrics.  I hope he doesn't mind me putting it here, but I heard Adam sing his half of this awhile back and wanted so much to sing it with him...only problem being I didn't know the song at all.  Fortunately, I found that he had provided links to go and at least hear it...oh and music too, but I was too lazy to go there.  Anyhow, I had to try it, and I really liked the way it turned out...even if it's just me.

Broken

Okay, so I promised someone I wouldn't pull songs out of here anymore...and I won't, even though I really, really want to.

It's here Janet...it's always been here.  I promised.  Just hiding because...

Back! Did you miss me  ;D

I'm glad to say I have dropped to 49 again so that's a relief, I'm a bit worried about my age fluctuating like this, is this a sign of things to come?

I made a hopeless tree  :'(  I kept being blown over... must have been a hurricane.

Okay, more songs yay!  And Sandy, I did see very briefly you put in a duet with Adam... I'd like that back please!  I can't help having to run away for a few mins - you didn't give me a chance, never mind, I'm sure your invisible ink will be revealed with my magic marker... I'll just reserve your space :P

Kelley I'm really sorry about your computer, I know how I feel when mine plays up!   :(

A few more listens then I must go to sleep - early mornings! :D

EDIT:  vvv Awwww, I'm sorry.  Life isn't always kind is it?  The song you chose is perfect, I know it well, and love it, and yeah, it's a comfort by it's lyrics... feel better soon.  It's lovely to have you back with us.

EDIT:  Okay, that'll be me for tonight, thanks everybody... nighty night! :D
