This challenge is open to all. It runs from Tuesday September 1 until September 8, 2009 at 6PM EDT.

PLEASE READ THE GUIDELINES AND THEME DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY BEFORE POSTING.

PURPOSE - The purpose of the EAW Music Challenge is to encourage people to create and/or promote new music each week and to give them a forum to have their songs heard. There is no judging involved.

HOW IT WORKS - Every Tuesday at 6PM a topic featuring a new theme will be posted on this board. Those wishing to participate are invited to post links to their songs that match the theme. You may post a song with a link from any online music/singing site you belong to. Over the years a nice little community has sprung up around these challenges. We invite you to participate but be aware that here everyone is very supportive of each other. Amateurs and professionals are both welcome. You do not have to be a great singer to participate. No flaming is allowed on this board. This is not a contest. There is no judging. It is merely an opportunity to hear and be heard by others. You can post or merely listen and interact with the others who post here. Please follow the detailed guidelines which are posted below and at the top of each new challenge thread. Have fun!

CHALLENGE GUIDELINES -

1. Post links to ONE OR TWO songs that fit the theme. You may post a THIRD one on or after Thursday.  You may post a FOURTH song link on or after Saturday.  Your song can be a new song or one that was previously recorded.

2. For EACH song link you post, listen to at least SIX other people’s songs and leave feedback. That means, if you post 2 song links you should listen to 12 others over the course of the 7 days of the challenge, a little less than 2 a day. If you post 3 song links, listen to 18 others and so on. You may, of course, listen to more if you choose. Listening is the most important part of this challenge. Supporting and experiencing others is what it’s about.

3. We prefer to listen to the whole song. Try not to listen to the same people every day. Give new people a chance as well.

4. You don't need to post a song to listen but you need to listen if you post a song. It's best to post earlier in the challenge. But you can post up until the end.

5. Please avoid making multiple posts in a row (spamming) by going back and modifying your posts if you left something out.

6. Remember to post the name of your song. For easy instructions on how to HOT LINK and post your song title, click EAW FAQ.

7. Please do not post glitter or large graphics as feedback or in the thread. Please keep to the standard font, size and color that is already provided - this helps prevent your songs and comments from getting lost in a sea of shifting fonts and colors. For your song title only, use 14pt font size and bold. This will help your song stand out. For more information on how to do this, check the EAW FAQ.

The theme for this challenge is Labor Day Festivities

Post a song with any of the following pointers in the title or lyrics:  picnics, barbecues, fireworks displays, water sports, and public art events, doesn’t have to be strictly these keywords, just something which associates with them!

Let’s all celebrate – we are having a big drop in chat party get together on Friday 4th September, at 8pm EDT and continuing till we er can’t! … so let’s have some fun with our songs this week, pretty open theme, loads of space for you to be creative… have fun, looking forward to a week full of festivity!

Psst!  Bring a friend to have fun with us!   ;)

Have fun!

Good evening, nice to be back, looks as though I missed a great week last week, but this week looks as though it will be very entertaining.

I thought that the festivities would include lots of singing and dancing, so here is one by Martha and the Vandella's

Taz, I really enjoyed your "Salty Balls" interpretation, lol.

Since Labor Day is about celebrating the 'worker' (and as I am a worker) I'm really celebrating ME, eh?  Gotta love it.  The AFL/CIO convention will ironically be here in town for their convention in about a week.   Mebbe it will be a good time to picket about {insert your cause here}.  Then a scant two weeks later, we'll have G20 in town.  Picketers, unite!

Five O'Clock World

note...I did my 100th song today, and it has been exactly two years since I started in SingSnap.  It's been great fun, thanks to all of you.  As some of you may know, my sister Marigot introduced me to the site and the EAW Challenge, so I sang my 100th for her.

Hi everyone! Been awhile since I've had time to drop by so thought I would see what's up this week :)

This song not only talks about "having a beer by the edge of the sea" but it's also a song that complains about work! haha, how's that for fitting? :P

Okay, I'm gonna add this one as my song...

Cos, if I was able to celebrate Labor Day or Labor Evening ...  It's what I would want.

"...Oh, kiss me beneath the milky twilight
Lead me out on the moonlit floor
Lift your open hand
Strike up the band and make the fireflies dance
Silver moon's sparkling
So kiss me.."

GRIN...
