My wonderful co-host is:  Bella! ;D

This challenge is open to all. It runs from Tuesday August 25th until September 1st. 2009 at 6PM EDT.

PLEASE READ THE GUIDELINES AND THEME DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY BEFORE POSTING.

PURPOSE - The purpose of the EAW Music Challenge is to encourage people to create and/or promote new music each week and to give them a forum to have their songs heard. There is no judging involved.

HOW IT WORKS - Every Tuesday at 6PM a topic featuring a new theme will be posted on this board. Those wishing to participate are invited to post links to their songs that match the theme. You may post a song with a link from any online music/singing site you belong to. Over the years a nice little community has sprung up around these challenges. We invite you to participate but be aware that here everyone is very supportive of each other. Amateurs and professionals are both welcome. You do not have to be a great singer to participate. No flaming is allowed on this board. This is not a contest. There is no judging. It is merely an opportunity to hear and be heard by others. You can post or merely listen and interact with the others who post here. Please follow the detailed guidelines which are posted below and at the top of each new challenge thread. Have fun!

CHALLENGE GUIDELINES -

1. Post links to ONE OR TWO songs that fit the theme. You may post a THIRD one on or after Thursday.  You may post a FOURTH song link on or after Saturday.  Your song can be a new song or one that was previously recorded.

2. . That means, if you post 2 song links you should listen to 12 others over the course of the 7 days of the challenge, a little less than 2 a day. If you post 3 song links, listen to 18 others and so on. You may, of course, listen to more if you choose. Listening is the most important part of this challengename of your song. For easy instructions on how to HOT LINK and post your song title, click EAW FAQ.

7. Please do not post glitter or large graphics as feedback or in the thread. Please keep to the standard font, size and color that is already provided - this helps prevent your songs and comments from getting lost in a sea of shifting fonts and colors. For your song title only, use 14pt font size and bold. This will help your song stand out. For more information on how to do this, check the EAW FAQ.

The theme for this challenge is Earth Wind & Fire , you can sing any song with something from Earth ie: rivers, oceans lakes , forest , mountain, desert, in the title of the song or artist name ie Johnny Rivers, Wind any word that has to do with weather ie rain, snow, sun ,sleet , twister , etc. , Fire any word associated with fire ie smoke, embers, heat, hot, burn etc, the Earth would also include diamonds , rubys, etc. , should be easy to find a song , remember the most important thing that we do is listening to each other , Hope everyone has a great time

So I read the description of this week's theme and my mind went immediately to The Peter Gabriel song "Don't give up"  There is a very poignant line in there about returning home and finding that the trees "had all burned to the ground"..

Several of you have already heard this one, but I've always felt it was one of my few "not as terrible as the rest" recordings...  LOL

AND!!!!!!

As an extra special bonus, you get to hear the angelic and simply unimaginably  beautiful voice of Eliza.    Whom we all have been missing terribly lately.

DON'T GIVE UP

:~)

My favorite indulgence is listening to the blues...all kinds.  I can't sing 'em but I love to hear 'em...Listening to the blues (especially live) always makes me feel better, somehow...

Well, I promised a lighter entry after all my doom & gloom last week.

I figure you can't get much lighter than the Beach Boys--unless it's with this song, that is, 'cause they didn't write it!  Sounds just like 'em though!  I gave it the full cantare choir treatment, sang over all the backing vox, and ad libbed a few more.

This one has beaches, sand, sea, shore, surf, sun, moonlight, haze...and Jessica Alba.  (OK, I just kinda threw her in there, but you can imagine a shirtless David Hasselhoff instead if you prefer.)

First Class - Beach Baby

Wonderful theme Walt, and you're right, there are tons of songs to choose from, but in the fire category, I've chosen an old Italian (actually neapolitan) song that's become popular throughout the world...(even if you don't understand the words)....translated into English, the song means MY SUN.

'O SOLE MIO

Good morning Janet and all of the EAW, I see there was no activity last night so my job this morning is to rally the members into a singing frenzy lol, bring on those rain songs, songs from Neil Diamond, Diamond Rio, Johnny Rivers, make my day a sunny one :))
