Dedication Week Challenge/Showcase Thingy CXII
« on: June 02, 2009, 10:58:45 pm »

This challenge is open to all. It runs from Tuesday 2nd June until 9th June at 6PM EDT.

Joining me once again for this weeks challenge is co-host  Jubi,

PLEASE READ THE GUIDELINES AND THEME DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY BEFORE POSTING.

PURPOSE - The purpose of the EAW Music Challenge is to encourage people to create and/or promote new music each week and to give them a forum to have their songs heard. There is no judging involved.

HOW IT WORKS - Every Tuesday at 6PM a topic featuring a new theme will be posted on this board. Those wishing to participate are invited to post links to their songs that match the theme. You may post a song with a link from any online music/singing site you belong to. Over the years a nice little community has sprung up around these challenges. We invite you to participate but be aware that here everyone is very supportive of each other. Amateurs and professionals are both welcome. You do not have to be a great singer to participate. No flaming is allowed on this board. This is not a contest. There is no judging. It is merely an opportunity to hear and be heard by others. You can post or merely listen and interact with the others who post here. Please follow the detailed guidelines which are posted below and at the top of each new challenge thread. Have fun!

CHALLENGE GUIDELINES -

1. Post links to ONE OR TWO songs that fit the theme. You may post a THIRD one on or after Thursday.  You may post a FOURTH song link on or after Saturday.  Your song can be a new song or one that was previously recorded.

2. For EACHname of your song. For easy instructions on how to HOT LINK and post your song title, click EAW FAQ.

7. Please do not post glitter or large graphics as feedback or in the thread. Please keep to the standard font, size and color that is already provided - this helps prevent your songs and comments from getting lost in a sea of shifting fonts and colors. For your song title only, use 14pt font size and bold. This will help your song stand out. For more information on how to do this, check the EAW FAQ.

New challenge themes are announced every Tuesday at 6PM EDT.  This current challenge will run until Tuesday, June 9th, 2009, 6PM EDT.

The theme for this challenge will be:  "Dedication Week."

Wonderful theme Tommy!  I'm sorry I had to go spend some time in front of the telly watching comedy... Live at the Apollo with Jack Dee and some other bloke, I tried hard not not to laugh, but I'm afraid my resistance was week.

I also did not have a watch on me or a clock so thought it only around 10.30pm.

Now, I need to send you something don't I?  :D

Hi Tommy!  Well, as it turns out, I just recorded this song the other day...Sunday...and dedicated it to my brother and his wife for their first anniversary.  I've posted it on facebook for them to see and hear...they aren't on snap or anything.  I was so happy to sing this song at their wedding...even though I felt rather foolish when my leg wouldn't stop shaking while singing the song.  Somewhere along the way I guess I've acquired some nerves, hehe.  Anyhow, I love this song, and I hope you all will too.

Your Love

Hi Tommy!  This is a wonderful challenge!

I just did this one for my Mother-In-Law, who lost her husband a couple weeks before.  He was actually buried in a very beautiful, and peaceful, valley, so it was appropriate for her.  She remembered the song when it first came out, by Red Foley, and asked if I thought I could sing it, so I gave it a try!

Got sent home by a hospital 3 times in a row.. the last time with a sedative! grrrr..  Umbillical cord wrapped around her neck 3 times.. didn't breathe for the first 30 seconds... very scary moments... I would give u more details.. but I might have to charge a Dr's Consultation fee...lol

Hi everyone...great challenge here..

I dedicate this one to my dad. He has a tremendous sense of humour. I get lots of my craziness from him. He's going into the hospital on Monday...so this is for him.

I don't know if LivingNY is around right now, but I was about to post this one and dedicate it to her anyway and then along came the challenge theme.  Sooooooooo

This is because I had done a Frog Man song and she joked about a woman singing like a frog.  It seemed like a dare to me.

Grandma wore this mink stool that was fascinating...I'd watch that endpiece (was it a fox?) and just knew it could tell stories.  As a single woman, she traveled the world with her group, traversing lands far and wide...never forgetting to bring her grandchildren home a trinket...whether it was Marionettes from Spain or carved animals from Germany.  She had a way of making you feel that you were the only one in the room...the five of us kids around then would fight to see who would get to sit next to her at dinner.  If you lost, she would just wink and whisper to you that "if we sit across from each other, then she could make faces that the others couldn't see."

She took Marigot and me by streetcar into town to see my first movie ever...The Sound Of Music.  I'll never forget that experience...I was five and sitting up on my seat with my arms balanced on the balcony, entranced.  I have loved musicals ever since.  Thanks, Grandma!

I've tried my hand at half a dozen or so musical songs on SingSnap, and find them quite difficult.  It seems I always try Julie Andrew songs (as if anyone could duplicate her!).  I've attempted Feed The Birds, Something Good, and one, which I posted in 2008, I was quite unhappy with...I just couldn't get it right.  I even hid it from myself!  *chuckle.  I brought it 'out of mothballs' a couple of months ago, thinking to redo it.  I haven't yet, so, 'warts and all' here it is...I hijacked a lovely, lovely voice.

This is a song I sang for my youngest brother Curtis who passed away back in 1985. He was the youngest of five and we all had a very special relationship with him. He was only 18 years old and well now Cody has met his uncle. I love them both and miss them so much.

What a coincidence...  Just the other day -  After Janet had her misadventures with her new "BFF"  Whilst singing a lovely rendition of a Cranberries song,  I was motivated to dedicate a little song to her...

The ballad of Janet VS The spider]/url]

:~)

Edit:    Hee hee.. I just went and started reading the posts,  And It appears that Janet  actually posted that very song here...      Make sure you listen to her's before you go for mine...
