EAW Q & A Challenge/Showcase Thingie CVII
« on: April 28, 2009, 11:09:55 pm »

This challenge is open to all. It runs from Tuesday 28th April until 5th May 2009 at 6PM EDT.
My co-host this week is the SAWEEEEEEEEEEEET n LOVEABLE Sandy
PLEASE READ THE GUIDELINES AND THEME DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY BEFORE POSTING.

PURPOSE - The purpose of the EAW Music Challenge is to encourage people to create and/or promote new music each week and to give them a forum to have their songs heard. There is no judging involved.
HOW IT WORKS - Every Tuesday at 6PM a topic featuring a new theme will be posted on this board. Those wishing to participate are invited to post links to their songs that match the theme. You may post a song with a link from any online music/singing site you belong to. Over the years a nice little community has sprung up around these challenges. We invite you to participate but be aware that here everyone is very supportive of each other. Amateurs and professionals are both welcome. You do not have to be a great singer to participate. No flaming is allowed on this board. This is not a contest. There is no judging. It is merely an opportunity to hear and be heard by others. You can post or merely listen and interact with the others who post here. Please follow the detailed guidelines which are posted below and at the top of each new challenge thread. Have fun!
CHALLENGE GUIDELINES -
1. Post links to ONE OR TWO songs that fit the theme. You may post a THIRD one on or after Thursday. You may post a FOURTH song link on or after Saturday. Your song can be a new song or one that was previously recorded.
2. For EACHname of your song. For easy instructions on how to HOT LINK and post your song title, click EAW FAQ.
7. Please do not post glitter or large graphics as feedback or in the thread. Please keep to the standard font, size and color that is already provided - this helps prevent your songs and comments from getting lost in a sea of shifting fonts and colors. For your song title only, use 14pt font size and bold. This will help your song stand out. For more information on how to do this, check the EAW FAQ.

New challenge themes are announced every Tuesday at 6PM EDT. This current challenge will run until Tuesday, May 5th, 2009, 6PM EDT.

The theme for this challenge will be: Questions and Answers  We are looking for song titles that ask questions and or give the answers to questions!  Who, What, When, Where, Why, How,etc.  If your song is the answer, give us the question you are answering!!  Most of all, have fun, invite your friends.

This first entry is both question and answer. One name for the song is Where Did You Sleep Last Night?--that's actually the title under which the Nirvana Unplugged! version I used for backing was released.  The answer, In the Pines, is most strongly identified with Bill Monroe's cheery bluegrass rendition... but on a suggestion from Janet I've used a very dark/disturbing vocal similar to Mark Lanegan of The Screaming Trees:

Cobain/Lanegan - In The Pines

I hope people aren't getting too sick of these Uncle Tupelo covers... here's another Farrar/Tweedy composition in the softer vein, asking that eternal human question of a friend or lover: Will you Still Be Around?  It's actually a good example of a "dynamic duo" songwriting team and I almost posted it last round, but I wanted to give people a week off from the UT stuff at least.  :)

I am always impressed with how creative you hosts are!

This sounds like fun, Sandy.  I just hope I have time to come up with something.
I seem to be excessively busy while getting nothing at all accomplished.

And I'm late thanking Tracy.  Thank you, Tracy, for a wonderful challenge!

I'm back.  I think this might fit the theme.
Ain't Too Proud to Beg

Great music, as always!!  I look forward to some more, but for now I think I'm going to see if I can sleep...I stayed up too late last night...and the night before that...and so on.  Don't ask why, I think I'd have to admit what a fool I am.  I should have gotten some sleep after I talked to Doug, as he suggested I do.

Looks like a fun one, Mike and Sandy!  I'll be thinking...  :D

OK, I thought!  I recorded this one a few weeks thinking to put it in the gender bender challenge, but I didn't do it.  I'd kind of like to redo it, but will go ahead and include it.

The question is:

What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?

Q:  Sandy!  Are you really still not sleeping at this ridiculous hour of the morning?

A:  Yep...still not sleeping.

Oops, and now I'm even asking and answering my own questions.  Help!  Let me try this again.  Goodnight.

My song is a question. The singer Matt Monro, the question

Who Can I Turn To

Anyone seen a cat?  ;) I think it ran off with the song
